- there is 6 period. let we consider subjects are A B C D E
now if A is used 2 times then we have to arrange A A B C D E in 6 periods which will have 6!/2! ways
similarly for B C D E, there will be 6!/2! ways
there are 5 subjects thus total ways=(6!/2!)*5=1800 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(35) No(5)
- Pallavi, I think u r wrong. in word arrangement problems we are dividing by 2! if any alphabet is repeating twice. by considering repeated alphabet as one alphabet. but in this problem we cant because if we are alternate the sub. still effective 2hrs have to be consider .
so ans is
6!*5=3600........ - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(3)

2 sub----------5
3 sub----------4
4 sub----------3

and one lecture is remaining.so,for that 5 possibilities.

- There are 6 periods but we have to assign atleast one subject to each period.
let the subjects are named as sub1,sub2,sub3,sub4,sub5
first we can assign a period to sub 1 out of 6 periods (6 ways)
then we can assign a period to sub2 out of 5 periods (5 ways)
we can assign a period to sub3 out of 4 periods (4 ways)
we can assign a period to sub4 out of 3 periods (3ways)
we can assign a period to sub5 out of 5 periods (2 ways)
after all there is a period left.
to this period we can assign any one from these 5 subjects so 5C1
total ways = 6*5*4*3*2*5C1 = 720 * 5C1 = 720 * 5 = 3600 (answer) - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(2)
