• The age of two friends is in the ratio 5:6, after how many years will the ages be in the ratio 7:8?
  
  If present ages are 5x and 6x and after y years , their ages are in ratio of 7:8, then
  5x+y/6x+y = 7/8 or 40x+8y= 42x+7y or y=2x; so after 2 times the Highest common factor ( in years) of their ages now , ratio of ages will be 7:8.
