Age Problem
32. Difference between Bholu's and Molu's age is 2 years and the difference between Molu's and Kolu's age is 5 years. What is the maximum possible value of the sum of the difference in their ages, taken two at a time?

-
- B-M=2
M-K=5
BY SOLVING WE GET
B-K=7
.............
SO MAX . POSSIBLE SUM IS (M-K)+(B-K)=5+7=12

- B-M=2
M-K=5
B-K=7
(B-M)+(M-K)+(B-K)=2+5+7=14 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(12) No(13)
- B-M=2
M-K=5
B-K=7
taking 2 at a time max is 7+5=12
so 12 is the correct ans

- i guess 7... B-M=2;M-K=5
HENCE B-K=7 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(7)

- |b-m|=2
|m-k|=5
to get maximum sum the next combination difference(|b-k| must be maximum
=>b-m=2
=>m-k=5
=>b-k=7
hence maximum sum of difference taken two at a time is (m-k)+(b-k)=7+5=12
Some will get doubt that why should i take (b-m) for |b-m|
m-k for |m-k|
Reason:if we take m-b=2
m-k=5
then difference b-k will be 3 and then we will get minimum sum value of the difference in their ages, taken two at a time. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- b-m=2
m-k=5....so b-k=7....now taking sum of difference in their ages, taken two at a time...the maximum value is 7+5=12.... - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- We have 3 combination.
|(B-M)|=2, |(M-K)|=5, |(B-K)|=7
CLEARLY=MAX SUM=14
