- 20% votes are less , so total given vote = 80%.
Out of which nitish got 41% so rest are = 39%
Let votes of lalu = x ;
so vote of nitish = x+200;
rest vote = vote of lalu + discard votes ;
= x + 120;
Let total no of votes = t.
So .. (x+200)*100/t = 41 . ...(1)
and (x+120)*100/t = 39. ..... (2)
By solving (1) nd (2)..
we get t = 4000 , x = 1440.
so total pulled vote = 80% of t = 3200.
so defeted % = 1440*100/3200 = 45%... ans(C).

- ans cant be 45%. since 41% se less than 45%.percent of vote of won candidate wl be more than that of the defeated one. . n check the options only option a is in favour. .so without going through detailed calculation we can directly say that ans will be 38% :)
