if the amount obtained by harry by investing 1500rs for 2 1/2yrs at the rate of 8% p.a is equal to amount obtained by jack by investing a certain sum for 2yrs at 5% p.a simple interest then the sum invested by jack is?

• si for 1500 rs.:(1500*2.5*8)/100=300
  hence total sum becomes (1500+300)=1800
  now this will become total sum of money for jack
  so 1800-p=p*r*t/100
  so r=5;t=2
  p=1636.36 rs.

• @sonu- can u please explain that where it is mentioned that jack invests the money as sum of principal and interest earned by harry...!!
  will it not give answer just by equating both the p*r*t/100 where one 'r' is missing.. pls suggest..
