a)
Rs.4000
b)
Rs.3000
c)
Rs.2000
d)
Rs.2500
2)In what proportion should two quantities of gold one of 16 carats and another of 20 carats be mixed so that mixture in the form of jewellery may be 17 carats pure?
3:1
1:3
2:3
3:2
Read Solution (Total 8)
-
- A=Rs 6000
B=Rs x
Profit=Rs 5000
Ratio= 6000:x
share of B =Rs 2000
Therefore, 2000 = 5000x / (6000+x)
2= 5x/ (6000+x)
12000+2x =5x
3x =12000
x=4000 Rs

- by alligation method
16 20
17
3 : 1
so the ratio is 3:1 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(2)
- 1>a
profit ratio is a:b=3:2
so if a invest 6000 b=4000
2>a
3*16+20=68
68/4=17

- Let proportion of 16 carat=x
Let proportion of 20 carat=y
total proportion=(x+y)
then (16x+20y)/(x+y)=17
x=3y
x:y=3:1 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- A and B invested money in the ratio = 6000 : x
profit is 5000
so B's share is x/(6000+x) *5000 = 2000
put the values(try options) in above expressions check it .for x=4000 u will get 2000
so answer is 4000 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- 6000×12:x×12
6000:x
(X÷x+6000)×5000=2000
5x=2(x+6000)
5x=2x+12000
3x=12000
X=4000 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
