a hollow cube of size 5cm is taken, with a thickness of 1cm.It is made of smaller cubes of size 1cm.If 1 face of the outer surface of the cube are painted, totally how many faces of the smaller cubes remain unpainted?
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- volume of cube of size 5cm=5*5*5=125
to make this cube hollow we hv to remove 9*3=27cubes
so,125-27=98
for the 6 faces of cube total cubes 98*6=588
1 face of cube contain 25 cubes.
so,the faces tht remain unpainted'll be 588-25=563

- the answer for this is 563
volume of solid cube- 5*5*5= 125 cu cm (so number of cubes is 125 each of 1 cu cm.)
Now remove the cubes to make it hollow = 5*5*5 -3*3*3 =98
Hence there are 98 small cubes(side=1cm) in hollow Cube (side=5cm)....
Each cube has total of 6 faces, total faces = 98*6 =588
But the cube(side =5cm) is painted from outside, hence number of painted of painted faces=1, each face has 25 faces of small cubes, hence ans is
588-25= 563 - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(0)
- no. of cubes=125-27=98
total no. of faces=98*6=588
unpainted faces=588-25=563 - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
