- 1. First fill 5 liter jug.
2. Pour from 5 liter jug to 3 liter jug. Now 5 liter jug will have 2 liters. 3 liter jug will have 3 liters.
3. Pour the water in 3 liter jug back into well. Now 3 liter jug is empty. 5 liter jug will have same 2 liters.
3. Pour remaining 2 liters from 5 liter jug into 3 liter jug. Now 3 liter jug will have 2 liters. 5 liter jug is empty.
4. Fill again 5 liter jug.
5. Pour from 5 liter jug into 3 liter jug. Already 3 liter jug has 2 liters. Now it can hold 1 more liter.
So 5 liter jug now have only 4 liters. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(95) No(2)
- first fill the five litter jug.. pour its content to three litre jug.. now the water remaining in five litre jug is two...
empty the three litre jug and again fill it with the remaining content of five litre jug....
now fill the five litre jug... pour water from five litre jug to three litre jug which already contains two litres of water... thus it can accomodate only one more litre... therefore the five litre jug will now contain (5-1) 4 liltres of water - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(0)

- simply you can see this in following way
step 1- use half of the 3 litre jug content
in this way you will use 1.5 content
step 2-use half of the 5 litre jug content
NOW
total content used=content used in step(1) + content used in step(2)
=1.5 + 2.5
= 4 litre content

- 1)Fill the 5 liter jug.
2)Pour 3 liters of water into 3 liter jug. The jug with capacity of 5 liter will have 2 liters of water left in it and other will have 3 liters of water i it.
3)Pour the 3 liter jug's water back to well and empty the 5 liter jug water into 3 liter jug. Now the 3 liter jug will have 2 liters of water and 5 liter jug is empty.
4)Fill the 5 liter jug and pour it in 3 liter jug. Since 3 liter jug was having 2 liters of water in it, only 1 liter of water will be required to fill it.
5)The jug with capacity of 5 liter will be left with 4 liters of water. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
