Q. A train covers the distance d between two cities in h hours arriving J. hours late. What rate would permit the train to arrive on schedule?

• train takes time of h hours and it is late by j hours so it should have made journey in h-j hour
  so the rate should be: distance/time = d/(h-j)

  Time taken = h
  But train is late by 2 hours
  So, the time taken should have been h-2
  ! stands for division (assumption)
  So, Speed required to be on time = d/(h-2)

  =d/(h+j)
