While covering a distance of 24 km, a man noticed that after walking for 1 hour and 40 minutes, the distance covered by him was 5 of the remaining distance. What was his speed in metres per second?

Let speed of the man is X km/hr
in 1hr 40min he walked (5x/3) [(Note :- 1hr 40 min ==> 1(40/60) ==>1(2/3) ==>5/3 )]
Remaining distance = Total distance-distance covered by him in 1hr 40min
i.e.,Remaining dist=24-(5x/3)km
Atlast he noticed that the distance covered by him was 5 of the remaining distance
5x/3 = 5(24-(5x/3))
By solving we get X value i.e.., speed of the man in km/hr
by converting km/hr into m/s we willget the final answer
