20% of the students in a class failed in an examination. Out of the students who failed, 75% were males. Male students who failed constitute 90% of the economically poor students in the class. What is the ratio of the number of economically poor students to the number of students in the class?
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
- Let total students in class = x
Failed Students = 20% of x
75 % of Failed students = 75% of 20 % of x = are males
i.e 75% of 20% of x = 75/100*20/100*x=15x/100
Now these students constitute 90% of poor children.
Therefore total poor students= (15x/100)*(100/90)= 15x/90
Desire Ration of poor students to total students=total poor students / total students
=(15x/90)/x
= 1/6
