Which of the following triangles with measures of sides given below is an obtuse angled triangle?
a)12, 5, 13
b)6, 7, 5
c)7, 3, 5
d)8, 8, 8
Read Solution (Total 6)

- For a obtuse triangle, its side must satisfy one of the following condition:
a^2 + b^2 < c^2
b^2 + c^2 < a^2
c^2 + a^2 < b^2
so option c is the answer. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(1)
- 7,3,5 the hypotenuse got through sumof squares of shorter side 3,5 is shorter than longer side 7

- The square of sum of the shortest sides of option b combination is 61.And root over 61 = 7.81024,which is more than 7.So,the triangle is an obtuse angled triangle.
Option a clearly speaks of a right angled triangle, apply the same logic for option c as b and it does not work, option d speaks of an equilateral triangle. So,option B is correct. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(4)
- if a=12; b=5 and c /hypotenuse/ = 13
solution is
