How to prove that any chord is less than that drawn through its middle point?

- The length of chord is given by
L = 2*sqrt(r^2 - p^2) , where p is perpendicular distance of chord from centre.
When another is drawn to the chord via its centre, p2 < p1
=> L2 > L1
Thus the length of second chord is greater.
