A, B and C went to buy ration from a wholesale market. They had
a combined sum of Rs 900. A spent 80%, B spent 70% and C spent 75%
of their respective amounts. Now the ratio of amounts left with them is
4 : 9 : 10. Find the ratio of amounts they had in the beginning.
(a) 2 : 4 : 3 (b) 3 : 4 : 2
(c) 5 : 2 : 2 (d) 2 : 3 : 4
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- (d) 2 : 3 : 4
If initial amounts are a,b and c respectively , then
final amounts are
0.2 a
0.3 b
0.25c
which are in ratio of 4:9:10
so 0.2a=4x
a= 20 x
similarly b=30x
c=40x
so ratio of amounts they had in the beginning = 20x:30x:40x= 2:3:4 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(0)
- let the required ratio be x:y:z
then,(x-80% of x):(y-70 % of y) :(z-75% of z) = 4:9:10
now solve the equation by taking two ratio at a time you will get 2:3:4 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(3)
- the ratio of amount left = 4:9:10
so for a 20% = 4x -> 100% = 20x
for b 30% = 9x -> 100% = 30x
for c 25% = 10x-> 100% = 40x
a+b+c = 20x+30x+40x = 900
x = 100
a:b:c = 2:3:4 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)

5, 6 and 10. We don’t know which letter represents which number. Consider
the following relationships:
(i) a + c = e (ii) b – d = d and (iii) e = a = b
Which statement below is true?
(a) b = 4, d = 2 (b) a = 4, e = 6
(c) b = 6, e = 2 (d) a = 4, c = 6
