The weight of 3 heaps of gold are in ratio 5:6:7.By what fraction of themselves must the first two be increased so that ratio changes to 7:6:5 ?Approach 1) 24/25, 2/5 2) 48/50,4,5 3) 48/50,3/5
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- Initially its in ratio 5:6:7
Let it be for ex: 100, 120, & 140 (Ratio is 5:6:7)
To make the ratio to 7:6:5 (Keeping 140 constant) it will come up as:
140/5 = 28
So 28x7: 28x6: 28x5 =
196:168:140 ... This is the required (7:6:5)
(196-100) / 100 = 24/25 & (168-120) / 120 = 2/5 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(12) No(0)
- 1) 24/25, 2/5
If initial weights are 5,6,7 units
and
now First heap is changed to 5x and second heap is changed to 6y, then
5x/7= 7/5
x=49/25; so first heap should be increased by (49/25-1=)24/25 times.
6y/7 =6/5
y=7/5; so second heap should be increased by (7/5-1)or 2/5 times. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(1)
