Exam
A jar contained a mixture of two liquids A and B in the ratio 4:1. When 10 litre of mixture was taken out and 10 Litre of liquid B was poured into the jar , this ratio becomes 2:3. The quantity of liquid A contained in jar initially was 1) 4 L 2) 8 L 3) 16 L 4) 40 L
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
- Ans 16L............
Given ratio of liquid A & B = 4:1
Let quantity of liquid B be x litres
Therefore quantity of liquid A is 4x litres
Total quantity in jar now is 5x litres
Now 10L is taken out so jar has 5x-10 L
quantity of liquid a is 4(5x-10)/5 = 4x-8 L (since ratio is still 4:5)
quantity of liquid b is (5x-10)/5 = x-2 L (since ratio is still 4:5)
Now 10L liquid b is added so quantity of liquid b is x-2 + 10=x+8 L
Now the ratio becomes:
(4x-8)/(x+8)=2/3
This gives x=4L
Hence initial quantity of a = 4x =16L - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
