A cube of edge 12 ft is placed on the floor with one of the faces touching a wall. A ladder of length 35 ft is resting against that wall and is touching an edge of the cube. At what height does the end of the ladder touch the wall, given that it is more than the distance of the foot of the ladder from the wall? 1) 12 ft 2) 16 ft 3) 24 ft 4) 28 ft
Read Solution (Total 1)

- 28 ft
If h is the height and suppose h is also the distance of foot of ladder from wall, then
35^2 = h^2+h^2
then h= 35/ Root 2 = 24.75 approx
but height is more than the distance of the foot of the ladder from the wall.
so from given options , height = 28 ft and the distance of the foot of the ladder from the wall is 21 ft - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
