in a 3 digit no if the first digit id the square of the 3rd digit,and suppose those digits are a and b ,
then what could be there difference i..e, a-b?
a)2
b)3
c)4
d)either 2 or 4
Read Solution (Total 7)
-
- a=x^2
b=x
x can only have 3 values - 1,2,3
so for x=1 x=2 x=3
a-b=0 a-b=2 a-b=6
so possibly answer should be 2 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(24) No(0)
- Let 3 digit no be axb.
where a=b^2
now we have to find the difference between a and b.So there are many facilities. but it is asked "what could be the difference", means ans could be any 1 from given options only. and among the options only 2 suits the answer. as 2^2-2=2. apart if we take value of b more than 2 then difference will be greater than 4. so there is no such option.
eg. 9-3=6
16-4=12...... and so on.
so req ans will be 2 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(4)
- since a is one digit as well as b so possible square pairs are
1x1,4x2,9x3;
so the difference is
1-1=0;
4-2=2;
9-3=6;
hence option a>2 is the correct one - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- 1 digit can only be square of 2 or 3 so diff can only be 6 or 2 ,,,since 2 is option its correct

- let the no is acb now b can be 2 and 3 and a will be 4 and 9 difference is 2 and 6 according to option a is correct
- 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- b x a
a=b2
a-b=2
a=b+2
b+2=b2
b2-b-2=0
b2-2b+b-2=0
b=-1
b=2
a=1 a=4 now its for sure that ans is 2 then check directly for 4 bt for 4 a,b is not integer. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(6)
- a-b can be either 2 or 6 but here 2 is in option so 2 is the correct ans
