Karju normally took 12 hours to drive from city A to city B. Today his car developed some technical glitch at point C, between A and B. After fixing the glitch in 15 min, he drove at a speed 20% more than the normal speed. He reached the destination 15 minutes earlier than the normal time. The ratio of the distances AC and CB is

  total distence- x, y is distence between A and C , x-y is distence between C and B. Time taken to reach the point C is 12y/x.
  after 15 min(1/4h) his speed is improved and become x/12(1+1/5)= x/10.
  and time taken to reach the point B from C is x-y/(x/10).
  1/4+12y/x+ (10x-10y)/x =12- 1/4
  after solving we get x=4y/3
  hence ratio= y/(x-y) = 3:1

  (time taken x distance=x/v+15/60) +(time taken y distance=y/(v+v/5)=(time taken to reached destination=12-15/60 ) ;

  after solving (1) &(2)

  usual speed to reach from A to B = d/12 where d is dis b/w A & B and let x is dis b/w A & C
  so total time taken is = x/(d/12) + 15 min + d-x/(d/12+ 20% of d/12)=12hr-15 min
  x/(d/12)+1/4+d-x/(d/10)=47/4
  so d=4x/3

  x+1/v =12 &
