- The capacity is 60 liters.
This is easy to check, since in the beginning there is then 48 l milk and 12 l water, then 44 l milk and 16 l water and finally 33 l milk and 27 l water, which means 55% milk.
To find the answer you use that the amount of milk scales with the milk percentage, so the following equations apply, where m is amount of milk in liters at the start, and p is percentage of milk after mixing in 5 l of water:
m / 80% = (m - 4) / p = (m - 4 - 15 p) / 55%
use outer ones to find linear relation between m and p, then make quadratic equation and solve.

- IF OPTIONS GIVEN...THEN BY 60......
1 - 5/60 = 1- 1/12 = 11/12
1 - 15/60 = 1 - 1/4 = 3/4
80 * 11/12 * 3/4 = 55 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(8)
- Answer is 80
let capacity=x;
difference b/w milk %'s:25 i.e, 25%(x)-->20 liters of water
so capacity of container is:4*20=80liters

- Let capacity =100 l
ratio of milk and water 4:1
water in 95 l = (1/5)*95=19 + 5 l added then it became 24 l.
again on finding ratio 24:76 =6:9
water in 85 l(100-15)= (6/25)*85=20.4 + 15 l water in became 35.4 l (100-35.4=64.6 milk in 100 l)
(64.6/100)=(55/x)
x=85.13 l capacity Ans
