Two goats are tied with a rope of length 40m outside of a rectangular shed of dimensions 50m X 30m. The goats are tied to different corners which lie on the opposite ends of a diagonal of the shed. What is the area in which the two goats can eat grass, if they choose not to eat in the common approachable area?
(a) 1200π
(b) 1225π
(c) 2400π
(d) 2450π

- t is clear that 3/4th of the circle(radius 40m) is covered by each goat. So 2 goats * (area of 3 quadrants for each goat) = 2* 1200 = 2400(pie) square units
As the goats do not eat in the common area the radius becomes 10m for the forth quadrant for each goat hence (2 goats)*(area of quad. for each goat)= 2*(3.14*10*10*(1/4)) = 50pie square units
hence total area is (2400+50)pie = 2450pie square units. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(16) No(2)
- 1) area of semi circle=(pi *r*r)/2=800pi
2) area of quarter circle =400 pi
3) now area of sector is=r*r*(pi/2)/2=25pi
4) so if u add all these stuff u get = 1225pi
5) there are 2 goats therefore 1225 pi*2=2450pi

- covered area by goats is 2*40*30= 2400
so ans is c
