Age Problem
The ratio of Adam's age to her mother's age is 3:8.The difference of their ages is 35 years.The ratio of their ages after 4 years will be
a. 7:12
b. 5:12
c 38:43
d 42:47
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- adam's age:mother=3:8
8x-3x=35
5x=35
x=7
present ages adam:mother=3*7:8*7
=21:56
after 4 years=25:60=5:12 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
- A/M=3/8
Also M-A=35
From ratio, A=3/8M
On substituting and solving, we get M=56 and A=21
So, after 4 years, A/M=25/60=5/12 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- (b)5:12
a:m=3:8
m-a=35
=>a=m-35
=>(m-35)/m=3/8
By C&D,
(m-35+m)/(m-35-m)=(3+8)/(3-8)
(2m-35)/(-35)=11/(-5)
(2m-35)/7=11/1
2m-35=77
2m=77+35=112
m=112/2
m=56
=>a=56-35=21
(a+4)/(m+4)
=25/60
=5/12 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
