John and Nick together can complete a work in 10 days. They plan to do the job in a different way. In first day John do it whereas Nick do it for the next 2 days and this pattern is repeated again and again. If they have to finish the work in 18 days, then in how many days the man who finish the work do this work alone.

  so their's work ration is 1:2
  john and nick can finish their work in 10days
  1/x+1/2x=1/10
  2x+x/2x^2=1/10
  3/2x=1/10
  2x=30
  here 2x is nicks work so nick alone can complete the work in 30 days
