A dot matrix printer usually employs a matrix of :

1) 7*10
2) 7*5
3) 7*4
4) 8*5

• The printer pins are normally used 7,9,14,18 or even 24 in vertical array and can use 5,7 and nine pins in horizontal array.
  But usually we use 7*5 array matrix form for general dot matrix printers.
