A train starts from Delhi with a certain no. of passengers. At Ghaziabad 110 got down and 100 get in. At Aligarh 50% get down and 25 get in. At Kanpur half of them get down and 50 get in. When the train leaves Kanour there are 200 passengers. How many boarded the train at Delhi?

• Ans is 560.
  In starting 10 person reduces so it became 550. Then 50% reduceces it became 275 and 25 person get in so now total person is 300 again 50% get down so now total is 150 and 50 get in .so total no. Of person now 200.

  If train starts with 'x' passengers from Delhi,then passengers remained after train leaves stations
  Gaziabad x-110+100=x-10
  Aligarh 25+[(x-10)/2]=(50+x-10)/2=(x+40)/2
  Kanpur 50+[(x+40)/4]
  As after kanpur there are 200 passengers, so 50+[(x+40)/4]=200, x=560

• At beginning number of passengers say x
  At ghaziabad no. of passengers=x-110+100 =x-10.
  At Aligarh= x-10/2+25
  At kanpur= x-10/2+25-5+50
  Leaves kanpur with 200 passengers
  So, x-10/2+70= 200
  X-130 =400
  X = 270
