• the total no. of students seem to be a multiple of 6 when 1 is absent and multiple of 7 when 2 is absent. the answer will be less than lcm
  hence it will be 6x+1 = 7y+2. by trial and error method. the answer has to be 37.
  because 37-2=35 is a multiple of 7 and 37-1=36 is a multiple of 6
