- let erik's age be x
then roy is x+4
iris age be y
then roy is y+y/2
after 2 years
erik is x+2
roy is x+4+2 (x+6)
then x+6 = 2(x+2)
x=2 (erik)
x+2=4 (roy)
y+y/2=4 then y=4(iris)
after 2 years roy is 8 years old and iris is 6 years old 6*8=48

- R=E+4
R=I+2
In 2 years,
R+2=2(E+2)
i.e. R+2=2E+4
i.e. E+4+2=2E+4
i.e. E=2
Also I+4=2E+4
i.e. I+4=8
i.e I=4
after 2 years,product of ages=(R+2)*(I+2)=8*6=48

- Let ages of Roy, Iris and Eric be R, I and E.
Since Roy is now 4 years older than Erik
Hence R = 4 + E -----------[1]
Also we have R = 2 + I --------------[2]
If in 2 years, Roy will be twice as old as Erik, then in 2 years
⇒ R + 2 = 2(E + 2)
⇒ R + 2 = 2E + 4
⇒ R = 2E + 2 ----------- [3]
Since the LHS of eqns 1 and 3 are same,
Hence we compare their RHS
⇒ 4 + E = 2E + 2
⇒ 2E – E = 4 – 2
⇒ E = 2
Putting this value of E in eqn 1, we have
⇒R = E + 4 = 2 + 4 = 6
Putting this value of R in eqn [2],
We have R = 2 + I
⇒ I = R – 2 = 6 – 2 = 4
Hence, after 2 years, age of Roy will be 8 years and age of Iris will be 6 years
Hence,
The product of their ages is 8 × 6 = 48 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
