The batting average of a cricketer for 87 innings is 40 runs. his highest score exceeds the lowest score by 238 runs. if these two innings are excluded the average of remaining innings is 38 runs. what is the highest score?

Excluding Highest and Lowest score, total runs=85*38=3230
now 3480-3230=250 because addition of both score lowest and highest.

also. He adds the total money that was Rs. 150.
He divides the Total money by number of person...as there was need to divide the total money
3 friends...So finally, he gets 150/3 = 50. After this Mohan gives Rs. 50 to each of his friends and
keep the same amount for himself.
finally, we get,
AVERAGE = (Total of something gathered) / (Total no of divisions)
Like that, AVERAGE run per inning = (Total runs of all innings) / (Total no. of innings)
It gives,
Total runs of all innings = AVERAGE run per inning * Total no. of innings
= 40*87
= 3480
Assume that,
Minimum score of cricketer is x
Then, Maximum score should be 238+x
After excluding this 2 scores, We have the total runs of all 85 innings = 3480- (238+x+x)
According to the question,
Total runs of all 85 innings / 85 = 38
[3480 - (238 + 2x)] / 85 = 38
238 + 2x = 3480 - 3230
x = 12/2
x = 6
So the highest score of the cricket will be 238 + x = 244
and option(b) is correct one.
