). A Certain sum of money an amounts to Rs 2500 in a span Of 5 years and further to Rs.3000 in a span of 7 years at simple interest The sum is
a) Rs.1000 b) Rs.1200 c) Rs.1050 d) 1250
Read Solution (Total 5)

- simple interest diff of two years is 500.for one year it is 250.
so subtract 5*250=1250 from 2500 for 5 years.
the initial sum is2500-1250=1250
option d

- 2500 in 5th year and 3000 in 7th year
so in between 2 years rs 500 is increased so 500/2=250
per year it is increasing 250 then in 5 years is ----250*5=1250
finally 2500-1250=1250 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(15) No(0)
- As the rate of interest for both the cases are same
(A1-P)/T1 = (A2-P)/T2
(2500-p)/5=(3000-p)/7
17500 - 7p = 15000 - 5p
p=1250
2500 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(0)
- amount= sum+PI ,Form the two equation by using the amount the divide them you will get rate=20% now put this rate in any of the equation you get the sum i.e sum=1250

- answer is 1250.
solution is:-
-1st way
rate is same
(A1-P)/P*T1=(A2-P)/P*T2
solving above equation, we get P=1250
-2nd way
in 5 years, A=2500
in 7 years, A=3000
7-5= 2
in 2 years, 3000-2500=500
i.e. interest increased by 500.
therefore,
2 years=500
1 year=500/2=250
therefore, for 5 years, Interest is 250*5=1250 and for 7 years, interest is 250*7=1750
so, for 5 years, P=A-I=2500-1250=1250
for, 7 years, P=A-I=3000-1750=1250
so, prinicpal and rate are same i.e. principal is d) 1250. - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
