In the town of Unevenville, it is a tradition to have the size of the front wheels of every cart different from that of the rear wheels. They also have special units to measure cart wheels which is called uneve. The circumference of the front wheel of a cart is 133 uneves and that of the back wheel is 190 uneves. What is the distance traveled by the cart in uneves, when the front wheel has done nine more revolutions than the rear wheel?
a. 570
b. 1330
c. 3990
d. 399
Read Solution (Total 9)
-
- distance travelled by front wheel = distance travelled by back wheel
let revolution be x+9 and x respectively
so 133(9+x)=190x
x=21
distance = 21(190) 0r 133(21+9) = 3990 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(65) No(0)
- LCM of 133 and 190 is 1330
by this we can calculate
front wheel need 10 rounds to travel 1330 as 133*10 = 1330
back wheel need 7 rounds to travel 1330 as 190*7 = 1330
front wheel rounds 3more than back wheel in 1300uneve
10rounds of front wheel = 7round of back wheel
now given is front wheel has done 9 more revolutions
10*3 round of front wheel = 7*3 round of back wheel
30 round of front wheel = 21 round of back wheel
hence distance traveled by cart = 30 * 133(uneves in 1 round) = 3990 uneves

- Let x be the distance.
x/133=x/190 + 9
x/130-x/190=9
x=3990 uneves (c) - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(1)
- Both the tyres belong to a cart
So the distance travelled by them will be same
Also front wheel which is smaller revolves 9 times more than rear wheel.
If rear wheel revolves 'x' times, then front wheel revolves 'x+9' times
A wheel covers k distance of its circumference is k
Hence,
Distance travelled by front wheel = 133*(x+9)
Distance travelled by rear wheel = 190*X
Equate it!
And we find 'x' to be 21
Hence, distance travelled by the cart is 190*21 or 133*(21+9)
That is, 3990 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- my ans is b 1330
becausce 133+133*9 =1330

- Effective length traversed => 133(9+x)=190x
x=21
total length travelled=21*190. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- in 1 full rotation of rear wheel the front wheel rotates = (190-133)/133 = 57/133 times & the car moves 190 uneves.. hence in 9 times the car will move = 190*133*9/57 = 3990 uneves.

- LCM of 133 and 190= 1330
so front wheel takes 10 rounds and rear wheel takes 7 rounds
So for 3 rounds extra, 1330 uneves distance has to be travelled. To take 9 rounds extra, 1330 × 3 = 3990 uneves has to be traveled. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
