A sequence u1,u2……….is defined by u1=√2,u2=π,un=un-1-un-2 for n>=3.What is u1000?

• u1= root(2); u2=pi ;u3=u2-u1=pi-root(2); similarly u4=-root(2);u5=-pi;u6=-pi+root(2);u7=root(2);u8=pi;u9=pi-root(2).....if u observe clearly the pattern gets repeating for evry 6 terms..so 1000/6 =166 remainder 4 so -root(2) is the ans

  We get u3=π-√2
  u4=-√2
  u5=-π
  u6=-π+√2
  So the value is repeating after u6
  So 99%6=3
  98%6=2
  So the ans will be -√2
