The ratio of adults and teenagers is 1:30. if teenagers are increased by fifty and adults by 5 new ratio become 1:25. What is number of adults at present?

  given a/t = 1/30----------------(1)
  teenagers increased by fifty that means t+50 and adults by 5 that means a+5
  the new ratio will be
  t+50/a+5 = 1/25------------(2)
  from eqn (1) ....t=a/30
  put this value in eqn (2)
  
  so,
  25(a/30 + 50) = a+5
  5a/6+1250 = a+5
  a/5= 1245
  a=6225
