A tiger is 50 leaps of its own behind a deer. The tiger takes 5 leaps per minute to the deer's 4. If the tiger and the deer cover 8 and 5 metre per leap respectively, what distance in metres will the tiger have to run before it catches the deer?

- Let , Tiger runs X meter.
deer run (X-400) meter [as 50 leaps behind from deer & tiger takes 5 leaps per minute]
As tiger & deer run from same time & meet same time,
then,
time to cover distance X by tiger = time to cover distance (X-400) by deer
X/40=(x-400)/20 [ tiger cover 5*8=40 meter per minute & deer cover 4*5=20 meter per minute ]
x=800. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- Tiger 5 leaps/ min = 40m
Deer 4 leaps / min = 20m
Relative velocity = 20m/ min
Tiger will run for 50*8 /20 min
Total distance tiger will run = 40* 50*8/20= 800m - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
