Students of a class are made to stand in rows. If 4 students are extra in each row, there would be 2 rows less. If 4 students are less in each row, there would be 4 more rows. The number of students in the class is

  If 'x' students initially can be arranged in 'n' rows,with total=x*n then
  (nx)/(x+4)= n-2 or -x+2n=4 ---(i) &
  (nx)/(x-4)=n+4 or x -n =4 ---(ii)
  From (i) & (ii), x=12, n=8
  So total students in the class=12*8=96

  let r = number of rows
  total no of student=rs
  now,
  (s+4)*(r-2)=rs
  sr+4r-2s-8=rs
  2r-s=4----------(1)
  again,
  (s-4)*(r+4)=rs
  sr-4r+4s-16=rs
  -r+s=4------------------(2)
  from (1) & (2)
  r=8,s=12
  so,total no of student=rs=8*12=96

• only written test .....if you sure that the answer is correct point the option otherwise keep it in review and complete the test with 10 mins in hand....because its very useful for you to make the review on your suspected questions.....
