What is the area bounded by the two lines and the co-ordinates axes in the first quadrant ?
1. The lines intersect at a point which also lies on the lines 3x – 4y = 1 and 7x – 8y = 5.
2. The lines are perpendicular and one of them intersects the Y-axis at an intercept of 4.

- @shivani, taking these four coordinates- (0,0), (0,4), (3,0), (3,2), the two lines are not perpendicular and secondly the area cant be calculated as the area of a rectangle. pls explain how?

- Point through which line passes is the intersection of 3x-4y=1,7x-8y=5
=>(3,2)
Lines are perpendicular y intercept at 4
=> x intercept at 3
area=4*3=12 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(2)
- by solving both equations we get one of the coordinates as(3,2)
the other three coordinates are :(0,0),(0,4),(3,0)
so the area is (4*3)=12 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(4)
