Numerical Ability
The ratio of selling price of articles A,Band C is 8:9:5 and the ratio of percentage profit is 8:7:14 respectively . If the profit percentage of A is 14.28 % and the cost of B is Rs. 400 what is overall percentage gain?

- 15.78 %
Ratio of percentage profits of A, B & C = 8: 7: 14
As % profit of A=14.28 corresponds to 8, B's % profit=7*14.28/8=12.5 & C's % profit=14*14.28/8=25
Also ratio of SP of A, B & C =8 : 9 : 5 =8x : 9x : 5x
With given B's CP=400 & % profit=12.5=(9x-400)*100/400, x=50, So B's SP=9*50=450
Similarly SP of A=8*50=400 & C=5*50=250
Now finding CP of A & C w.r.t. their profits with given SP, So CP of A=400/1.1428=350 &
CP of C=250/1.25=200
So total CP=350+400+200=950 & SP=400+450+250=1100
So overall % gain=100*(SP-CP)/CP=100*(1100-950)/950=100*3/19=300/19= 15 15/19 or 15.78 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
