to be divisible by 12, number must be divisible by 3 & 4 both
As the number 296*12 has last two digits as 12, so it is divisible by 4
To be divisible by 3, the number's sum(excluding *) =2+9+6+1+2=20 here, must be 21.
So '*' should be replaced by '1' - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)
- 4 is the answer because a number is divisible by 12 when it is divisible by both 3 and 4. So, adding individual elements of the given no. we get 20.Now we put 4 in place of *. we get a sum of 24 which is divisible by both 3 and 4.

- For a no. to be divisible by 12, it should be divisible by 3, 4 (12= 3*4)
So 296*12= 2+9+6+x+1+2=20+x (when x=1 it will be divisible by 3).
296*12 is divisible by 4 as last two digits 12 is divisible by 4.
so ans. x=1 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
