Data Sufficiency Question:
ABC be a right angled triangle, right angled at B. Let D be a point on side BC. Determine the ratio BD/DC.
A. The length of side BC is root(3) and line joining A to D makes an angle of 45 degrees with AB.
B. The length of AB is 1.

- Given, the length of BC = root(3) = 1.732
The line joining AD makes 45 degree. Therefore, angle BAD and angle ADB is 45 degree, because the traingle is right angled at B. Hence the opposite sides will also be equal.
Therefore, AB = BD = 1.
Since, BC = root(3),
therefore, DC = BC-BD = root(3)-1 = 1.732-1 = 0.732
So, the ratio of BD:DC = 1 : 0.732 = 250:183 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(56) No(2)
- Both statements a and b are required to determine the ratio of BD/DC as option a) gives the trigonometrical relation in triangle ABD and value. Of AB is given in option b)

- In right angle triangle ABC angle B is 90 degree(given).
AD Joins A To D, AD Makes an angle of 45 with A.
Now in Triangle ABD angle ADB is 45 deg, by mensuration rule Sides Opposite to Equal Angles of a Triangle are Equal.
Hence BD =1.
Since BD is intersected by AD, BD=1 & DC=root(3)-1 or .732.
hence -> BD/DC= (1*1000)/(.732*1000) or 1000/732 or 250/183

- AB=1,AC=ROOT(1^2+ROOT3^2)=2.
1/2AC*BD=1/2BC*AB
OR, BD=ROOT3/2
AD=AC
BD/DC=(ROOT3/2)/1
