Time Distance and Speed
Walking at ¾ of his usual speed a man is 16 min late for his office. the usual time taken by him to cover that distance is
a) 48 minutes
b) 60 minutes
c) 42 minutes
d) 62 minutes
e) None
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- Distance = Speed * Time
Here distance is constant
therefore s1*t1=s2*t2
where s1 is his normal speed let it be =x
t1 = t
s2=3x/4
t2=t+16(as it take 16 min more)
now s1*t1=s2*t2
x*t = (3x/4)(t+16)
4t - 3t =48 min
:- time t = 48 min - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(0)
- 3/4x(16+t)=x+t
t=48 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- time=distance/speed
4/3 of usual time - usual time=16
usual time/3=16
usual time=16*3= 48min - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- formula used:- (xt)/(y-x)
X/Y =3/4
t=16 (3*8)/(4-3)
ans = 48 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 48 min is correct ans

- Usual speed = x km/h
Distance = d km
Usual and 3/4 of usual walking time difference = 16
So, (4d/3x) - (d/x) = 16
=> d/x = 48 minutes
d/x = Usual time taken by the person. - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
