At present Geeta is eight times her daughter’s age. Eight years from now, the ratio of the ages of Geeta and her daughter will be 10 : 3 respectively. What is Geeta’s present age ?
(1) 32 years

Let the present age of Geet=x and her daughter=y, then
x=8y ---(i) and (x+8)/(y+8)=10/3 or 3x -10y =56 ----(ii)
On substituting x=8y in (ii), we have 3*8y - 10y =56, 14y=56 or y=4

so
after 8 year the age will be 10 : 3
then
(8x + 8)/(x+8)= 10 : 3
