The thick candle is supposed to last six hours and the thin one two hours less. When he finally went to sleep, the thick candle was twice as long as the thin one.

  length of b after n minute = x- n(x/2400)
  so now after when n minute when he sleep--> length of a = 2(length of b)
  x- n(x/3600) = 2(x- n(x/2400))
  ->1- n/3600 =2- 2n/2400)
