4oo students took a mock exam in Delhi, 60% of the boys and 80% of the girls cleared the cut off in the examination. If the total percentage of students qualifying is 65%, how many girls appeared in the examination?

so 0.6x
now no of girls are 400-x
so 0.8(400-x)
now 60% of boys which is 0.6x and 80%of girls which is 0.8(400-x) has cleared the exam and 65% has cleared the exam so
0.6x+0.8(400-x)=0.65*400
0.6x+320-0.8x=280
60=0.2x
x=300
so, 400-x=100
