Permutation and Combination
Q. Rahul have 4 diffrnt weights A,B,C,D. By using pair of weights he made 6,8,10,14 and 16. Find the no of unique combination can be made by using those 4 weights?
a. 1
b. 2
c. 3
4. more than 3
Read Solution (Total 14)
-
- 1,5,7,9 and 2,4,6,10 so two combinations are possible
as 2+4=6
2+6=8
4+6=10
4+10=14
6+10=16
1,5,7,9
1+5=6
1+7=8
1+9=10
5+9=14
7+9=16 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(19) No(6)
- ans will be 3. Unique combinations are 1,5,7,9 ;2,4,6,10 and 2,4,6,12.

- 2
let AB - 6; AC - 8; AD - 10;
Now, If A is 1 then other 3 are 5,7,9
if A is 2 then other are 4,6,8
but we any other digit to A then the other weights are repeating.
So, there is only 2 unique Combination. - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(2)
- 1
weight must be 1,5,7,9 only
1+5=6
1+7=8
1+9=10
5+9=14
7+9=16
but if we take weight as 2,4,6,8
2+4=6
2+6=8
4+6=10
or
2+8=10
6+8=14
but getting 16 is not possible by pairing and sum .
so finally only one combination is corrrect answer

- And : c
1,5,7,9
2,4,6,10
2,4,6,12 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(2)

Weights are 1,5,7,9
And 2,4,6,8....
If u try to pair with other numbers you will have to use more than 4 weights but in question... U have only weights A,B, C and D - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(12)

- priya i have one question, why u are taken 1,5,7,,9 & 2,4,6,10 these two combinations plz explain
- 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- THEY HAVE JUST ASKED FOR NO. OF UNIQUE COMBINATIONS.. SO IT CN BE JUST 4!=24
- 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- science Rahul has 4 different wieght
then total no of unique combination = 4c1+4c2+4c3+4c4 = 15 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- First run:
With 6 four pairings can be made.
Second run:
Eliminate 6 (to insure uniqueness)
With 8 three pairings can be made
Third run
Eliminate 8
With 10 two pairings can be made
Fourth run
Eliminate 10
With 14 one pair can be made.
4 + 3 + 2 + 1 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 2 , 4, 6 ,10
