the selling price of an article is 20% less than its marked price and cost price of the same article is 20% less than its selling price.by what percentage above cost price is the marked price of the atricle fixed?
Read Solution (Total 8)
-
- let marked price =100
then selling price is 20% less then of marked price = 100 - 100 * (20/100) = 80
cost price is less then 20% of selling price = 80 - 80 * (20/100) = 64
100 is x% of 64
64 * (x/100)= 100
=> x = (100 *100) /64 = 156.25
so marked price is = 156.25 -100 = 56.25 % above then cost price. - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(0)
- let sp=100,
then cp will be cp=80,
and for sp it must be 20% less then mp,
hence mp=125,
so
cp------sp------mp
80 100 125
now percentage above cost price=
(sp-cp)/cp *100=
125-85/100=45/80*100=56.25(ans) - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(0)
- let MP=100
then SP=80 (20%less)
CP=64 (20% less then CP)
100/64*100=131.25%
hence MP is 31.25% above CP - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(11)
- Let MP=100
sp is 20% less than MP so sp=80
Cp 20% less than SP so CP=64
(100-64/64)*100=(36/64)*100=56.25 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- let marked price is 100% then selling price is 80%
hence cost price of the article is 60%.
then percentage above cost price to the marked price is 40% - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(4)
- Cp=80%of sp
Cp/sp=80/100=4/5
Condition 2nd implies
Sp=80%of mp
Sp/mp=4/5
To make sp ratio same we can get the
relationship between mp and cp
i.e cp:sp:mp=16:20:25
Compute it and find the answer - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- let MP=100
THEN SP= 80
THEN CP= 64
therefore
precentage above cost = (100/64)*100 - 100
= 156.25-100
=56.25% (answer) - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- 56.25%
