In a 140L of a mixture of milk and water percentage of water is only 30%. This milkman gave 20L of this mixture to a customer. Then, the added equal quantities of pure milk and water to the remaining mixture. As a result, the respective ratio of milk and water in the mixture become 2: 1. What was the quantity of milk added?
(a) 12L
(b) 16L
(c) 18L
(d) 8L
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- (a) 12 L
Here ratio of milk and water= 70% : 30% = 7 : 3
When 20L of mixture is taken out then remaining 120L mixture contains milk=120*7/10=84L and water=120*3/10=36L.
Let x litres of milk and x litres of water is added to remaining mixture of 120L and ratio of milk and water in the mixture become 2: 1 => (84+x)/(36+x)=2/1
=> 84+x = 72+2x or x=12 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
