Even if we start filling the 3x3 grid with black marbles the required permutation is 9C6.

- There are 9 places to be filled. But Since the balls are identical, so we have to arrange 9 balls in 9 places. This gives us 9! but the balls are identical so you have to divide the identical numbers factorial from it. so the final answer is 9!/(3!*6!) which is equal to the 9C3.

So we can arrange them 9! ways but there are 3 w(white) and 6 b(black) tiles which are not identical. So we have to divide 9! by 3!*6!. So the final answer will be 9!/(3!*6!) which is same as 9c3.
