Ratio and Proportion
In a class of 70 students, the ratio of boys and girls is 4 : 3. Ratio of boys playing cricket
and girls playing cricket is 2 : 1 and the ratio of boys not playing cricket and girls playing
cricket is 2 : 3, then find the number of girls playing cricket.
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- Girls playing cricket=15
Total number of boys=70*4/(4+3)= 40, so girls=30
Let girls playing cricket=x, then boys playing cricket=2x
So boys not playing cricket=(40 - 2x)
Given ratio of boys not playing cricket and girls playing cricket=2:3
=> (40-2x)/x = 2/3
=> 120 -6x = 2x or x=15 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- Total students =70
boys=4x and girls=3x
no. of boys in class = 70/7 *4=40 and similarly no. of girls= 70/7*3=30
now we have ratio of boys and girls playing cricket = 2:1 therefore no. of girls playing cricket would be 30/3*1=10.
Hence no. of girls playing cricket = 10
