In a partnership between Virat and Dhoni, Virat scored 72 runs at a strike rate of 60(strike rate is runs per 100 balls) and Dhoni scored 94 at a strike rate of 78.33.Calculate the run rate of the partnership.(run rate is runs scored per over where one over is of 6 balls)

72 runs at strike rate 60..then total balls faced by Virat is 120..Dhoni got 94 runs at the rate of 78.33..means Dhoni also faced 120 balls..So total balls faced as partnership is 120+120=240 and total runs scored is 72+94=166. So strike rate will be (166/240)*100=69.16 approx. Now 240 balls equals 40 overs..so run rate =166/40=4.15 runs per over - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(18) No(3)
- 60 strike rate means 0.60 runs per ball.
Therefore,
0.60 runs/ball * 'X' ball = 72 runs
Means value of X is 120.
Virat played 120 balls and scored 72 runs with strike rate of 60.
Now similarly for dhoni
78.33 strike rate means 0.7833 runs per ball.
Therefore,
0.7833 runs/ball * X ball = 94 runs
Value of X is approx 120 balls.
Means dhoni played 120 balls and scored 94 runs with strike rate of 78.33
Now both played 240 balls and scored 166 runs.
Therefore,
Y runs/ball * 240 ball = 166 runs
Value of Y is 0.6916
Means 0.6916 runs per ball or 69.16 Strike rate.
And 0.6916*6balls(1over) = 4.15 runs/over
That's it. - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(10) No(1)
- 4.15 runs/over
Virat scored 72 runs in 72*(100/60)=120 balls.
Dhoni scored 94 runs in 94*[100/(235/3)]=120 balls. (*As 78.33=235/3)
So in their partnership they scored 72+94=166 runs in 120+120=240 balls.
Hence run rate or runs/over =166*(6/240)=4.15 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)
- average strike rate of both players will be the strike rate of their partnership
so,
(60+78.33)/2=69.16
69.16 is strike rate of partnership
69.16 strike rate out of 100 balls
each ball has a strike rate .6916
so the run rate per our is .6916*6= ans 4.14 run rate - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- Answer is 64.16

- V=60 strike rate. hence, 3.6 runs in one over ( if 60 runs in 100 balls then 'x' runs in 6 balls, x=60*6/100)
D=90 strike rate. hence, 4.6998 runs in one over.
run rate of partnership = 8.2998 (3.6+4.6998)
i may be wrong if i am please help! thanks - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(3)
- 72 runs at strike rate 60..then total balls faced by Virat is 120..Dhoni got 94 runs at the rate of 78.33..means Dhoni also faced 120 balls..So total balls faced as partenrship is 120+120=240 and total runs scored is 72+94=166. So strike rate will be (166/240)*100=69.16 approx
