  720=C.P of(17-5) balls
  720=C.P of 12 balls
  C.P of 1 ball=720/12
  C.P of 1 ball= Rs60

  given:-
  Loss = 5 C.P.
  putt the value of loss in above formula.
  And acc. to the statement of question--
  17 S.P. = 17 C.P. - 5 C.P.
  we get--
  S.p./c.p. = 12/17 ----- (equation 1)
  
  S.P. of one ball = 720/17
  putt this in eq.1
  (720/17)/C.P. = 12/17.
  
  Solve this , we get-
  C.P. = 60
