A bag has 6 blue balls, 8 red balls, 5 black balls and 9 white balls. You are asked to pick some balls from the bag, without looking into the bag. What is the minimum number of balls you must pick so as to be sure that at least 3 of them are of the same color?
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
- Number of blue balls in the bag = 6
Number of red balls in the bag = 8
Number of black balls in the bag = 5
Number of white balls in the bag = 9
Now, Number of different color balls = 4
We need to find the number of balls to be drawn such that at least 3 balls must be of same color
If we draw 8 balls so chance is there we can draw 2 balls of all the 4 colors and we will not get 3 balls of the same color
Now, If we draw 9 balls then 2 balls of all the 4 colors and one extra ball will satisfy the condition required.
So, Number of balls to be drawn = 9 - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
